foreign policy -- he doesn't have attraction. he has not been able to articulate a compelling view about how he would leave this country in a different direction than president obama. maybe he can begin to do that. he gave a good speech yesterday on our development policies. he needs to do more than that -- more of that in the debates. president obama and governor romney have different views about where to take this country internationally. host: where you expecting from the speech by the iranian leader today? guest: mach mod ahmadinejad -- mahmoud ahmadinejad is a fool. er.is a israel pahat denies the holocaust. he lost most of his power. he is not the most significant leader in iran. i would expect a lot of lies about the united states. iran has very low support. they have support from hezbollah and the syrian government. most countries want nothing to do with the iranians. they have been violating their commitments on their nuclear enrichment programs. it is a program on the defensive. president obama has been doing a good job

it will be interesting to see what mitt romney will say about foreign policy when we meet next, because he said it was tragic to end the war in iraq. he will not tell us how he will end the war in afghanistan. and i will use the money we are no longer spending on war to pay down our debt and put more people back to work, rebuilding our roads and bridges and schools and runways and broadband lines, because after a decade of war, it is time to do some nation-building at home and do and put some folks to work at home. this is the choice we now face. this is what the election comes down to. over and over we had been told by our opponents that since government cannot do everything, it should do almost nothing, if you cannot afford health insurance, we hope you do not get sick, and that if a company is releasing toxic pollution into the air, that is the price of progress. you cannot go to college -- just borrow money from your parents. as i described last night, that is not who we are, not what this country is about. in america we believe we are in this together. we understand america is not

policy. it was a rather tight commitment that mitt romney made with a donor nodding in the front row. i was troubled by that as if he makes a commitment to end investigations against edelson. i had an argument with mine, is he more interested in destroying unions or supporting, you know, he has other priorities as well. i don't think it matters. i don't think the rules have to be that clear. the rules are you want to create a structure where elected officials are not wholly dependent on a given -- not largely dependent on a given donor. one of the principles i always use is you want them to be in a situation where if they're in office and that donor comes back and says i really want x, y, z, the elected official can say, as senator mccain famously did, get out of my office. and if you can't because that money is fundamentally important to your campaign, you have a problem. and that's the case for rules. >> so there i would make the republican plea for judicial modesty and say, look, this is c

i spoke yesterday to the man who will moderate the last debate, which is foreign policy. i said what is your role of one or the other kid did it says something that is not true? he said if it is outrageous, i will step in. but in fact, it was designed to let each other a sale each other on know, that it's not the case. at the very least, it will make for a pretty good tv watching. one hopes they did not go too far afield in representing their own were their opponent's record. >> this year has been a bonanza for the fact checkers. i would say if the candidates did not tell so many factually inaccurate things, they could put them out of business. i was reminded of the ford incident in 1976. the fact is overnight polls did not show the public was aware he had made this horrendous this statement. it was only after a week of the press incessantly talking about the incident that the polls turned around and people decided yet lost the debate. what i'd like to do -- we have a debate watch event on campus, and we bring 200-300 students in to watch the debate, and then we turn it o
